WELCOME
FREDERIKSGADE 1 is a design house that represents some of the finest in Danish design through showrooms, galleries and studios spanning five floors in central Copenhagen. The house is grounded both in the renowned Danish design history and a continued story of contemporary Danish design. Our exhibitors are innovative design brands, up-and-coming talents and other established creatives across the field that together represent a qualitative segment of the Danish design scene.

A HOUSE OF DANISH DESIGN
At the design house FREDERIKSGADE 1 you will find a range of exhibitors, – exhibitors who all work in the field of art, design and architecture. Common to them all is their distinct roles on the Danish and international design scene, carrying with them a cultural history in constant and dynamic flux.

OUR GALLERIES
The house also offers two elegant gallery spaces where both our regular FREDERIKSGADE 1 exhibitors and external design brands and creators can exhibit and create events in a historical setting. One stretches across the ground floor facing out on St. Kongensgade, previously home to the furniture store NYT I BO, while the other is situated on the third floor with a magnificent view onto the Marble Church.

Events
FREDERIKSGADE 1 is a vibrant house that regularly hosts a diverse range of events: from the design festival 3daysofdesign, where the whole house works as an impressive and inviting showroom with exhibitions on every floor, to product and book launches, design talks and openings in the house’s two galleries.

THE HOLGER KVIST FUND
The design house FREDERIKSGADE 1 is owned and overseen by the Holger Kvist Fund working, among other things, to raise the quality and knowledge of Danish design and craft.
Holger H. Kvist created the furniture store NYT I BO in 1969, becoming Copenhagen’s first and leading design boutique. The store’s own collection of functional and minimalist wooden furniture was both sought-after and ahead of its time. Today this heritage is passed on by the brand NYT I BO. While the store closed its doors in 2021, the remarkable space on the ground floor now regularly houses design exhibitions.
