Formerly known as Re Beds, RYE has since 2016 been crafting honest and ascetic beds, based on a distinct view on the potential role of the bed in modern society.
Sleep is a place of rest – and that is how it should stay. However, in a world where constant progress is being celebrated, even the bed industry is changing the perception of sleep and reducing the sleeping hours to a simple condition for the waking hours. We are told repeatedly that ’we need to sleep well in order to perform better’ while having slowly forgotten the inherent value of sleep itself – a quiet refuge, a state of tranquil being. RYE is an expression of this value, attempting to identify the true essence of the bed and to give the world back sleep. The beds are created at the company’s workshop located in the scenic Danish Lake Highlands, where the whole process from idea and design to the sourcing of local materials and refinement through skilled craftsmanship is being practiced.
